Background:
These ropes are sold in pairs, (2) with one purchase. This Magnetic Rope will replace, or supplement, typical under-car straps or tie-downs. These can be quickly applied and removed from any magnetic surface, are all purpose, for indoors or outdoors. These can conform to any irregular magnetic surface and can be used for securing other tarps, coverings, drop cloths, signage, etc.
These Magnetic Ropes are made from an all-weather fabric material with magnets interspersed through-out its length, in a “rope-like” fashion. These are not ordinary “frig” magnets, but the highest grade of commercial Rare Earth magnets that are available in the world. These provide a very strong holding force with most thinner materials, such as car covers, tarps, etc. The item is as pictured, however, because each Magnetic Rope is individually made, there may be slight variations in material, design, color or magnets. All are tested for performance and will function as described.
Rare Earth or Neodymium magnets, also known as NdFeB magnets, with their high strength, have only been around since 1984; (Nickel-Iron-Boron: Nd2Fe14B: a tetragonal crystalline structure material). The graded strength of all magnets used in these Magnetic Ropes have a grade of N52. This, again, is the highest strength grade of magnet commercially available in the world. Rare Earth magnets are brittle and can chip, crack or break so these are secured and protected by the all-weather fabric covering, which, also, protects applied surfaces from scratching.
Two 4 foot lengths were chosen as being the most useful. However, the cost of the magnets is the limiting factor. I will only use Grade N52 magnets. Any number of ropes may be applied, separately, overlayed, or to increase the length. If one wishes to increase the holding force, simply apply a second rope over the first, the magnets will align, doubling the holding force. Quick and simple.
It has been calculated that these magnets will lose less than 1% of their strength after 10 years time.
